Editor's notes. So, the idea for this map was heavily influenced by the Godzilla movies of course, and one film in particular called Godzilla vs Godzilla that was made by a kid in his bedroom using cardboard buildings and GI Joe dolls, and it's actually pretty darn cool! In Unreal, the closest approximate equivalent for a Godzilla vs Kong is the alien Queen, and the Skaarj Berserker. The berserker being pretty much the only non-human character scripted as “Hate” to the Queen. For some reason the queen and berserker don't get along (Thanksgivings are awkward) and will in fact engage in fisticuffs if they see each other. --------------------------------------------------------- function eAttitude AttitudeToCreature(Pawn Other) { if ( Other.IsA('Skaarj') ) { if ( Other.IsA('SkaarjBerserker') ) return ATTITUDE_Hate; --------------------------------------------------------- This allows for a full blown battle of titans using only default Unreal characters. No mods required. The star of this map is the skybox which is basically a miniature city in itself. It is effective in blurring the line between the actual map buildings and the fake backdrop. Multiple layered 2D cloud sheets give the effect of distance and atmospheric distortion. It has a hazy animated almost “Jonny Quest” look to it. This is actually a very small map (only 267 brushes) painted in broad strokes to make it feel larger and more expansive than it really is. A lot of long thin lines. Two of the most famous Godzilla photographs are the ones where he's crashing through a series of high tension power lines, and one where he's attacking a suspension bridge. The suspension bridge serves no purpose but I built one anyway. It looks better against a black sky backdrop (hides the masking burr) and only appears in the Night version. Texture is a hand drawn 256 x 256 bitmap with 1 pixel wide cables, blown up to x64 on a 5000 x 1600 non solid sheet, which I believe is one of the biggest 2D sheets ever used in Unreal. Green and white is used to give the impression of an architect’s scale model. A futuristic concept city. Dynamic Audio clips are Japanese Airline, Train and Public Address announcements. Shoot the movie posters to turn music on and off. I was going to add a high tech control center in this map, (just like every scifi movie has) but I already did that in my last map (Spy vs Spy), so I left it out. I was also thinking about putting a fancy helicopter in this map, but I've already done that so many times, so I left that out too. In fact adding anymore details to this map only seemed to detract from its overall austerity so I decided to (don't F-it up) and just leave it alone the way it is.
